The Warratahs are the main entertainment but we also have Jess Chambers, The Black Velvet Band, The Jamiesons, The Funky Hot Mamas, Dr Sanchez and Vague As Brothers. Entertainment for the children and all day music provide for a great family day out.
The Warratahs
The Warratahs are a New Zealand music institution. The distinctive vocals of Barry Saunders and individual violin style of Nik Brown reach all the way back to the band’s beginning in 1985 and, along with Saunders’ elemental songs, form the core of ‘The Warratahs Sound’. Still touring and playing shows and festivals, they continue to pull the crowds and deliver strong and exciting performances. Although they play songs from their five albums they have always continued to develop and record new material.
Jess Chambers
“Sweet soothing music from a rising local talent…The Wellington singer and songwriter set out to make an album of comforting music and spent five years searching for the right sound to accompany her delicate-yet-dynamic voice, a voice that soars lightly to hit the impossibly high notes of Reaching for the Moon and just as easily swoops down to the sultry, lower register of Soldiers.” -New Zealand Herald
The Black Velvet Band
Often cited as being New Zealands greatest influence on the folk rock revival, The Black Velvet Band embraces traditional and contemporary Celtic songs, original compositions and fresh interpretations of old favourites.
Formed in the early 1990s, The Black velvet band have performed at many high profile events around New Zealand including a performance with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in August ‘08
The Funky Hot Mamas
Sporting beehives to rival that of Marge Simpson fhm swing you straight into the turbulent 60’s and soon have you intoxicated by their outrageous energy and madcap antics. Settle into the groovy vibe of the 70’s and feel the funky beat. All inhibition lost… Disco is alive! And lastly be embraced by the great anthems of the 80’s, (never mind the tragic fashion) ‘cut footloose’ and ‘get down tonight’ with The Funky Hot Mamas.
Dr Sanchez
One of the few full time professional performers of Spanish and South American music in New Zealand, Dr Sanchez has developed his improvisational skill in instrumental guitar into an exciting occupation – averaging around 260 performances a year. Dr Sanchez plays a mixture of traditional Mediterranean and South American songs, from artists such as Paco de Lucia, Armik, Ottmar Liebert and Santana… right thru to original tracks that lean more toward progressive beats fused with nylon string guitar.
Vague As Brothers
This dynamic duo have been wowing audiences all over New Zealand and Australia with their delicious brand of pop leaving the audiences screaming “Viva Las Vague As”.
Their aural love machine serves discerning swingers a lush cocktail of cheesy pop classics and hot dance hits. So good you’ll forget you never heard of them, The Brothers play all the hits you love but are afraid to admit it.
